Kira Kamamalu is a Big Island artist whose creative inspiration comes from her Hawaiian ancestry.
Kira expresses her passion and love of this island and it’s rich history through various platforms, wood working, clothing, jewelry and paintings.
In her paintings she is drawn to the human mutability and varied emotional expressions of people. She focuses primarily on figures. “With a figure, there is so much to say,” says Kira of her work.
Having studied art in Europe as well as Hawaii, her unique combination of classical style and Polynesian subject matter result in distinctive, recognizable works of art.
